Until now, the Internet hate has usually ended in a fine. This time, however, we are talking about imprisonment – for 10 years.
Malaysian Mohamad Fuzi Harun was brought to trial in connection with a series of published materials whose content directly offended Islam. In total, 10 charges were filed against him, and the accused himself pleaded guilty. Interestingly, for each of them you can be sentenced to a prison year or 50,000 ringgit (about $ 13,000) fine – or even both. Eventually, Fuzi Harun will go to prison for 10 years.
The same charges were made to three other men, most of whom are not guilty. A similar situation took place also in Europe. Not so long ago, the 70-year-old Swede wrote in a commentary to one of the articles that “no Somali man can work, it is the most lazy people in the world”. The whole ended with a fine of 700 euros (about 1000 dollars) after the trial. Here, of course, we are talking about a much more serious penalty.
