Microsoft has finally kicked off shipments of HoloLens 2, the second generation of its viewer for the Mixed Reality presented during the last appointment of the Mobile World Congress. The cost of this product, remember, is $ 3500. The first countries where the display will start to be available are: Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. No Italy for the moment.
As known, HoloLens 2 is not only an evolution of the first HoloLens as Microsoft has completely redesigned the viewer to improve it 360 degrees to offer an even more complete user experience. In addition to optimizing comfort to allow long hours of trouble-free use, the new HoloLens 2 is also an important technical step forward.
For example, the field of vision has been doubled. Furthermore, the viewer adopts the highest performing SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 and an HPU coprocessor for the holographic part.
In short, 360-degree improvements that highlight a very advanced level of development for this sector. Obviously, HoloLens 2, as the first model, is not a consumer product but a device designed for developers and companies that intend to embrace this technology for their activities.
With the arrival of HoloLens 2, the first HoloLens will not be put on the back burner. Microsoft says it will still be supported but some developers they could start creating apps specifically designed to take advantage of the new features of HoloLens 2. This means that with time, attention will be more focused on the new viewer.
